Yes, four weeks. It is a study abroad that one of Todd's professors has set up. So i am working hard at my Spanish 1010 class.

We like to say that it is our graduation presents to each other, as well as anniversary and birthday for the year. We might add in christmas and any other holiday that we don't want to shop for.

So we will be in Casares, Spain for four weeks, eating spanish food, seeing spanish castles and doing whatever it is spanish people do. so if anyone has any advice for traveling in spain, let me know.

a very good christmas

We always have such a crazy Christmas. We run from one family party to another. This year, however, we didn't have as many family parties, and it almost felt relaxing. Christmas eve breakfast we were at Tom & Diana's. Then we went to pick up Sean at Jolene's, and we headed up to Huntsville, to spend some time with John and Jill. The drive home was a bit scary. But we made it ok.

The next morning, we exchanged gifts here. Todd gave me an itouch, which is so much fun. Then we went over to Jolene's for breakfast. Sean got Guitar Hero World Tour and we all rocked out for an hour or so. Then we were back at my parent's again. It was really fun. Usually my mom's family comes up, and it is fun. But they didn't want to dare the drive. It was fun. We ate dinner, exchanged gifts--cayden, baylie, and alyssa wanted to open all the gifts--and played games.

The next day we drove up to Bloomington, just outside Bear Lake, to Doug and Kris's cabin--Todd's aunt and uncle. We stayed there for a night. We went snowmobiling, played games, and watched movies. The drive there and back were a little rough but we made it. We were assisted down logan canyon by the cops and people were moving very slow. But we made it home in a few hours or so.

All in all we had a fun Christmas. I hope you all had a good Christmas too. Happy New Year to all of you.

long time no post

As most of you know, life just seems to get busier and busier as it goes on. It almost seems like I don't even have time to eat lunch or dinner. I am guessing that it will just get worse as time moves on, but I can hope for some relief, right?

So because of that, I have found an easier way to keep in touch with people--Facebook. I rebelled against it at first, but now that I am addicted to it like a very good drug, i have seen the error of my views. So if you want to send me a message or just say hi, I am there, sometimes. I will try to post things here along the way, just to keep the masses at bay, but if it is important send me a message there.

Love and a spa day to you all, especially with the upcoming holiday season.

my feet hurt

It seems like I am getting very old, even though I am not. Today, we had a field trip at the preschool. We went to the fire station. And it was not just going to the fire station. We walked with all the kids and parents to the fire station. That should not make me feel old necessarily, but we walked there and bac a few blocks in the morning session, and then we walked there and back in the afternoon session.

And if that wasn't enough, I got a new calling. I am the young womens and womens sports director. Not that that should make me feel old either. In fact, I love this calling. It is one of my favorite callings. But after a long day of walking, I went and played volleyball for three hours.

As a 25 year old woman, this should not be a problem. But I am feeling it in the heels and balls of my feet, in my ankles, in my knees, and yes in my hips too. I am feeling like I could use two ankle replacements right now.

As much as I am excited for Janson to get married tomorrow, I am not sure if my ankles will make it through the day.

My Personal Impersonal Invitation to YOU

The month of september is past its prime, which is very very very good for me. It seems like everything collides into one or two months out of the year--september is one of them.

Because the month just didn't seem fun enough, I decided to add one more thing to it. On September 27th, I am having a party, but not just any party. We will have Layers, Sentsy, and Stampin' Up all in one place--my house at 11:00am.

So this is my personal invitation to anyone who would like to come, have lunch, and hang out. I am a bit woosy from the pain killers, and I had to arrange a ride here and home.

So I had to miss the first day of preschool for the twins but all in all I think they did ok without me there.

The first day of a very involved semester

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ift4XRk837Q/SLNyzplJdzI/AAAAAAAAAHY/uonbWcG_Qq8/s200/gold-shield.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5238657023222576946" />
Most of you know by now how hectic my life is. But I had to commemorate it somehow. Today was the first day of school at Weber State. I am teaching 12 credits this semester. I am teaching English 0955 at the Davis Campus from eight am to twelve pm.

Any of you who really know me, know that I am not a morning person. So to say that I have to be conscious enough to teach at eight am is kind of shocking. And after wandering around Davis and Weber counties today getting deans and chairs and professors to sign things and attending a class that gets out at eight thrity pm, I am a bit worn out.

I am, however, excited for what this semester will bring. And it has been a while since I have been excited to start a semester. And amidst all of the chaos, there is a light at the end of the very long, years and years long, tunnel. And that is finally understanding that I love what I do, regardless of the craziness and the running around.

I love standing in front of students who are just as excited and nervous as I am to learn and to teach. I love sitting in class taught by a friend and mentor.

Things will never really slow down...so I post at 10:28 pm

To some of you that might not sounds very late, but lately it has been more insane than it really should be.

So funny story.

Because I have been so busy, keeping track of the days I have left to finish up at the preschool and starting up teaching and taking classes again has been kind of on the top of my list.

So today, I spent all day at the preschool, i have been doing that lately so that once i start teaching again it won't be so bad. I was registering people and telling them the date as they signed the bottom of the form. I got home and Todd was cooking dinner, yes he does that...isn't he great. I started asking him about tomorrow...like what time is your soccer game tomorrow(which is on friday).

And he said it isn't tomorrow. Today is only Wednesday. I was speechless. I had to check the calendar on my phone to make sure he was telling me the truth.

I thought today was Thursday all day and I only had one day left to finish up at the preschool, which is a disaster zone right now. What a relief! Sent from God himself to give me one more day.

Enough of that. On to better news. My friends have had their babies. Kate and Carrie. There are now two new sweet baby girls in the world. It is so fun to see new babies the day they are born. I just love it. And congrats to you two. It is so much fun.

a deep breath

Just this week, I finished a semester. To most people this wouldn't be such a relief, but because I teach and take classes in the same semester, it is just one large deep breath. Now I just have to get the preschool ready for kids again.

So in thie minute of a break that I have to give myself, I thought I would send a shout out to anyone who is in need of a break. I understand. It seems as I get older (I am 25 now) things get busier and busier. And I don't know what it is about my mental state right now, but when things get busy, I get really, really tired and introverted.

I am off to get my hair done.

Summerness

I always have good intentions to blog more and take more pictures and stuff, but it never works out. So if there is anyone out there still checking my blog, this is for you.

I would like to borrow some inspiration from Stephen Colbert for this one. On his shows he likes to define certian terms. My term for today is Summerness. Yes, I realize not really a word, but it is something still.

Every summer comes along and I expect all that makes up grown-up life to be put on hold, so that I can drive with all my windows down to the closest sand volleyball pit and play until the lights go out. I want to meet new friends and make currents friends into best friends. I want to run through the city park's sprinklers at night until I am soaked through. I want to feel the excitement of something new and the comfort of something familiar. I want to be free to do anything and everything. I want to drive around with all my windows down and the music blaring.

This the summerness. The essence of summer is free and warm and fun. There is no deadline or work or responsibility--only endless nights and first kisses and drive-in movies.

This is something I miss now that I have three jobs and laundry and dishes and papers to grade and things to organize. This is something I read about in my own journals and see in my own pictures, but I don't feel it.

Lost Wallet

Yes, I have lost my wallet. We missed so much while we were gone, and I am sure that my mom, sisters, and newly returned brother, Janson, are all mad at me for leaving and missing the airport return and the homecoming. I am sad that I missed it, but we really needed to get away. Everything that we do just seemed to crash around us all at once, and we were kicking and screaming to get out of the deep end.

So in response to all the craziness, we ran away to the Pacific Ocean. We started out driving up to Seattle. We stayed with Jeff and Janelle, Todd's cousins. They toured us around downtown Seattle and let us stay with them for the weekend.

As most of you know, this is Pike's Market. We walked around the market looking for good things to eat and fun things to buy. I ate my first crab at the market. We found a shop that steamed, cracked, and served the crab for us. It was so good.
We also rode a ferry boat across the sound to Bainbridge Island. It was raining on and off, but it is Seattle. I would have been disappointed if it hadn't rained. (That is Jeff off to the side of the picture there--he cracks me up). From Seattle we drove into Oregon. As we did that we went through Astoria, the place where everyone told me to go, also the place where Goonies was filmed. There was a street fair in Astoria that day, so we stopped and had lunch and bought some goodies for the trek down the coast.

This is the Astoria column and the view from the column of Astoria. It was such a cool town. That night we drove into Seaside, OR. We were expecting and old fishing town. We were plesantly suprised with a beautiful beach and great food.
The next day we started our drive down the beautiful coast of Oregon. We drove through Cannon Beach and went to the Tillamook Cheese factory. We also saw our first two lighthouses. As we drove the coast we stopped and saw as many lighthouses as we could. They were really cool.

We arrived in Newport that night. Newport was probably my favorite city. It was so pretty and had a large bridge in the middle of it. I have always loved bridges, and this trip only made that obsession stronger. In Newport we went on a boat tour and saw one of the coolest things I have ever seen--tidepools. Just a few stairs down from the Yaquina Head Lighthouse are the tidepools. If the tide is low there is a large amount of sea life to see. I took some of my favorite pictures there.

After we left Newport, we drove pretty far down to Gold Beach. The drive from Newport to Gold Beach we saw probaby six lighthouses. It was fun to see how different some of them are. We only toured through two of them, but I made sure to take pictures of all of them.

Well, that is a few of them. In Gold Beach we took a jet boat tour up the Rogue River. We saw some beautiful wildlife and waterfalls and trees and water. From there we drove into California, and we stayed in Klamath. From Klamath we drove down Highway 101 into San Francisco.

Oregon is the most beautiful state I have ever seen. I was just amazed by all the trees and ferns and moss and flowers and beaches and rocks and rivers and bridges and wildlife and seafood. Oregon is one of those places I would like to retire to. I will be doing another post with all the pictures from San Francisco later. Remind me if I forget to do it, because I have some really cool pictures from the Golden Gate Bridge and other great places.

Thank you and good night.

Another crazy week is over

Preschool ended this week so that meant closing programs, practice for those closing programs, and the final field trip. I have been running all week--going from the school to the store to home to the dinosar park.

Amidst all of that craziness, we bought another vehicle. We bought a road tripping van. Ok so it soounds really dorky but, it is a van that is all decked out. It has a TV, DVD player, even a Super Nintendo. The back seat folds down into a double bed. It even has a small cooler between the two front seats. So because of the new vehicle we bought, we decided to go on a road trip. We are going to drive up to Seattle, down through Oregon and drive the Pacific Coast Highway down to San Francisco. Then we will drive through Tahoe and Reno home. Don't worry I will take a lot of pictures and show you all when we get back.

It is funny, lately, we have been running ourselves ragged with school and work and the preschool it seems like we don't even have time to clean the house or take out the garbage. We really need to get away and reconnect again. We haven't even had time for each other.

We leave on friday of this week. I can't wait.

Favorite Plant of the Week

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_ift4XRk837Q/SCs4Eqm0voI/AAAAAAAAAE0/SJTGKXdv1B8/s400/rhodedendron+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5200311847537131138" />
Because I have been working in the yard and talking about working in the yard with family members, I have been really getting into the plants and flowers of it all. So in tribute to that, I will be posting my favorite plant of the week.

This week is the Rhododendron. And yes I had to spell check that in Word. This variety is pink--hot pink to be exact. It has been seeded-- hydroseeded to be exact. i don't have any pictures because it is really gross and just looks like wet dirt. the landscaper said that we should see sprouting grass in a week. A WEEK! isn't that amazing. We also bought some trees and bushes and such from J and J Nursery on monday and Todd got a few planted before they started to hydro (which is a nasty process by the way). So soon we will have grass. And i say just grass because there are soooooo many flowerbeds yet to be planted or planned out or anything like that. I want to plant some Hydrangeas somewhere. so anyone who has had experience with that, let me know what you did.

So hopefully we will be able to do some fun things in the yard this summer, like parties adn bbqs so let me know if you want to come.

Yard Working Pics

Yard Working

So we had the landscaper here on Friday. He spread out all the dirt that we bought and put some where the flower beds are going to be. We also bought a shed, although it is just empty in the backyard because todd can't decide what stuff he wants where. Another fun thing that we got is a water feature. I like to call it a fountain, but it is not a fountain. It is a large blue pot. I'll take a picture of it later.

Real Salt Lake's wintery game

So some of you know that Todd and I are season ticket holders of Real Salt Lake. We went to the very first game in 2005, and we were addicted right then. The most recent game we went to was a bit cold. I don't know if the pictures will do it justice. Let me just say that Real won this game 4-0 so it was hard to leave.

We dragged Jeremy with us, Todd's newest co-worker and friend. type='text'>end of semester craziness

i am sorry that i haven't updated this in a while. i have a good reason though. it seems like every december and every may are the same. because i am teaching and taking classes, everything comes due all at once. to add to the craziness, i am teaching this summer which starts up may 12, a week after finals for spring semester. i have never taught in the summer, so i am quite excited but it is a lot to do.

also we have hired a landscaper. this has to be the best idea we have ever had. not only do we not have to do the yard ourselves, but it gets done a lot faster. so we have been looking into buying trees and flowers. i would like to do a garden this year, but i don't think i will have the time.

also the preschool is gearing up for the new school year. we are taking registrations, hiring teachers, and getting everything worked out that needs to be. so if anyone is interested in registering your kids or, even better, if you are interested in teaching at the school, i would be more than happy to talk to you.

well that is all that i can think of now. hopefully everything gets done. oh wait, i guess i have to do it...i better go.
san diego and new books

so i am such a dork because i forgot my camera when we went to san diego this weekend. but it was ok because we really just spent a lot of time with family, brian and janice- todd's aunt and uncle, and j and jamie- todd's cousins and their kids. janice and brian have recently remodeled their house in spring valley and it is beautiful and fun. so we spent a lot of time hanging out there. we went to seaport village, which is my favorite place in downtown san diego. and watched a lot of movies on the new theater in brian and janice's lower level, which i called a basement and i was chastized for it because there aren't any basements in california. so it was a lot of fun.

with all of the waiting in airports and such, i had to have something to do. on monday before we left, i went to barnes and noble and bought a book. it is called Twilight and it is a series. so on that monday i started reading. that was a bad idea. i guess it has just been too long since i read something that entertaining because i finished the book that same day at 12:30 am. so naturally i went back to barnes and noble and bought the next two books in the series, New Moon and Eclipse. i am literally addicted to these books. it is worse than when harry potter comes out. i just read and reread and then i found a website that the author has posted the "deleted scenes" from each of those books. i would more than recommend these books to anyone and everyone. the author is Stephanie Meyer, and there is a movie in the works for Twilight. i can't wait.

doctors and tests

so this last week i started going to a new doctor, stephen johnson obgyn, at the tanner clinic. everything went really well, and i really like this doctor. i feel like there are so many tests to do. i had an ultrasound last week, and not just the one on the belly. i don't have the results from any of it yet, but it all feels right, like i am finally doing the right thing. this week i have to do more blood tests, and we have to test todd too. i think he is ok with it. he would never say if he wasn't so i'll just assume it is ok.

other than that, it is spring break for weber this week, so i am just vegging out at home until our trip. we are going to san deigo on wednesday night. we love to be in san deigo. Well guess what? There is nothing new in our lives--other than I feel like I am getting busier every day. I promise that as soon as something exciting happens, I will let you know.

Because I don't have any kids, or dogs, or anything to take pictures of, I decided to post some of the projects that I have been working on.

The first one is an advent calendar. I am suposed to put one ornament on santa's tree every day until Christmas, but I haven't been doing that. My mom helped me a lot with this one. She did a lot of it.

The second one is stockings. I did all of these ones myself. It was actually a lot of fun. All of the stitching with the names and binding wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Other than the random projects, I have just been teaching, which I love to do, and taking graduate classes, which is fun but challanging. There is no real update on my infertility problems. The doctor really wants my hormones to level out before I really can try to get pregnant. I am just tired of waiting.

Todd is also working, still with Fedex, and taking classes, still his undergraduate, but he is getting closer to his degree. He actually got his associates degree this semester. We do it all one step at a time.
We are both working for his grandmother's preschool, Barneck Preschool in Clearfield. We will be buying the business with his mom starting January 1. So we will both be spending more time there. We are still working in the Primary. They gave us the CTR 7 class for next year.

That is really about it. So if I don't update for a while, those of you who want an update will just have to ask questions. I don't know what people want to know.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

Wow! Time really moves fast...

So it has been quite a while since I posted anything. Things have been just a bit crazy. Now that the fall semester has started, it just seems to get more and more busy. Along with graduate classes, I am teaching also, it's only adjunct, but it is six credits. On top of all of that Todd, my mother-in-law, and I are starting the grueling process of taking over a preschool. Todd's grandparents have been running this preschool for about 50 years, so it is kind of hard for them to let it go, but it is necessary. If that weren't enough, Todd's brother is getting married on Sept. 20 (which means showers, shopping, temple visits, and on an on), both my sisters have had babies. Briena on July 3 and Aubrey on Sept. 9. Now that I write it all out it is a wonder I have any time for anything else.

So for those of you who kind of know what is going on in my life (and if you don't, just read the previous posts and this will make sense), I have been seeing an Endocrinologist (a hormone doctor) because I have PCOS, which is a hormone imbalance. Anyway, after many blood tests, he is sure it is pcos and was excited because my hormone levels seem to be leveling out. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me, but basically it means that I can't get pregnant like everyone else does. It is going to take time and medication. I will keep updating on this so check back.

I guess that is about it. Hopefully things will get more organized so that I can handle all of this stuff. We will see.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tkgoff.blogspot.com/2007/09/wow-time-really-moves-fast.html' title='Wow! We always have so much fun with J and Jamie and their two kids, Keira and Gavin. This time we decided to do a little sight seeing in LA. We went to Medieval Times and Universal Studios. We flew in to San Diego and drove up to LA. That night we went to Medieval Times. It was so much fun; they made us eat with our hands, and they put on a show.

On Friday we went to Universal Studios. It was really cool. We saw the sets for Desperate Housewives, Ghost Whisperer, and they told us about some new movies coming up like National Treasure 2. There were rides and shows like Jurassic Park, The Mummy, and Waterworld. It was really fun. We had enough time to go on every ride and see every show, and we didn't have to wait in too many lines. It was the perfect time of year to go there.

We only stayed in LA for a day and a half. From there we went to San Diego where we spent a lot of time with our cousins, J and Jamie and our two Godkids Keira and Gavin. The kids really love Todd especially Keira, who isn't too keen on snuggling with people, but whenever Todd sat down, there she was--at his side telling him what to do and asking so many questions. They are both really sweet and smart kids.

We spent a lot of time playing games, which is one of Todd's favorite pasttimes. And we had to make a trip to the local yogurt store, which is necessary everytime we are there. We also took a drive to Mission Beach. I love to see the ocean, so I made J drive us down there one day.

Everytime we go to San Diego we have such a hard time coming home. That plane ride home isn't my favorite thing in the world.

Well that is our latest adventure. We have been married for three years now, had two houses and have lived in three places, had six jobs all together, and too many good and bad times to count. It sounds like a lot , I know.

After moving into our first house in Clearfield, we remodeled and sold it to move to a bigger house in Syracuse, which we are working on improving.

We are still both working on getting through school. Todd has finally decided on a major, Spanish with an emphasis in Business and a minor in Information Systems and Technology, and he is getting pretty close to finishing. Let's just say, there is an end in sight. I graduated with my BA in Dec. '05 in English with a minor in Technical Writing. After that I was invited to stay on and teach Developmental English, which I was reluctant to but now I love it. Now along with teaching and tutoring a little, I am working on a Master's of English degree in a new program at Weber State. I guess you could say that our blood runs purple, but I have seen my blood and Todd's too, it's still red.

So after getting my degree, I wanted to start working on adding to our family. When we started trying to get pregnant, we had no idea what would be in store for us. In February, I went to my OB/GYN and was tested for the gammett. She found that I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome.) So now that the brakes were put on that idea, we have been rethinking getting pregnant right now. With my master's degree almost done and Todd's BA getting closer to the end, I guess when God changes his mind, he means it.

Other than that, we would love to hear from you all.
